DEATH CLAIMS ALBERT LUBBEN

WAS PROMINENT FARMER AND STOCK RAISER IN GRANT TOWNSHIP MANY YEARS

Albert Lubben, well known and well to do farmer, of Grant Township, died at the sacred Heart Hospital in this city Friday, following an illness of five weeks. He underwent an operation for a serious internal illness and was convalescing when pneumonia set in a proved fatal.

Mr. Lubben had been a resident of this country for more than fifty years, coming to America when a youth in 1881.

Albert Lubben was born in Ost. Friesland, Germany, April 3, 1864. Upon completing a school course he worked at the shoemaking trade for three years and then emigrated to the United States, coming to Iowa directly and working first as a farm hand in Jones county and then in Plymouth county. He and his brother, Phillip Lubben, then rented land and farmed together for some years, making a successful venture.

Albert Lubben then bought a farm in Grant Township, four and a half miles north of Brunsville, and established his home there. He was a practical farmer and stock raiser and added to his original 160 acres buying more land. he expended money judiciously on improvements and was accounted one of the progressive and wideawake farmers of the neighborhood. He took an active interest in governmental polices, local and community affairs and during his lifetime served in the capacities of township trustee and school director and as a member of the board of trustees of the Lutheran church in Grant Township.

Leaves Large Family

He was united in marriage with Margaret Kleihauer and twelve children were born to them: Two children died in infancy. Mr. Lubben is survived by his wife and children, who are: Henry, William, Phillip, John, Alber Lubben, Mrs. Herman Brunken, Mrs. Burno Brunken, Mrs. John Oetken, Nora and Rosetta. There are twenty-two grandchildren. He also leaves a brother, Phillip Lubben, and a sister, Mrs. Tina Zimmerman, Le Mars, a brother, Garret Lubben, living in Germany.

The funeral service will be held this afternoon at Christ church, Mammen, Grant Township. at 2 o'clock. Rev. J. D. Meyer, pastor of the church, and Rev. J. J. Vollmar, of Le Mars, will officiate at the rites and interment will be made in the Grant Township Cemetery.

Mr. Lubben was a fine type of citizen and enjoyed the respect of all who knew him.
