Josephine J. Heyl

Josephine Julia Heyl, 93, of Akron, died Thursday, March 16, 1995, at the Akron 6-plex after a brief illness.

Services were held Saturday, March 18, at the Trinity Lutheran Church, Akron, the Rev. Allen Bidne officiating. Music was "Amazin Grace" and "How Great Thou Art," sung by the congregation, accompanied by Marietta Nielsen on the organ. Burial was in Riverside Cemetery, Akron, under direction of Schroeder Funeral Home.

Casketbearers were Tom Von Hagel, Marvin Hitzemann, Tom Garvey, Lynn Numsen, Daryl Port, and Jerold Dykstra.

Mrs. Heyl was born December 17, 1901, in Union County, South Dakota, the daughter of Frank and Madeline (Huckert) Miller. She married Walter Heyl December 8, 1920, in Alcester, South Dakota. They farmed in Union County, South Dakota until retiring to Akron in 1954. She was a nurses aide at the Akron Hospital and Care Center for several years, Mr. Heyl died January 30, 1981.

Mrs. Heyl is survived by three daughters and their husbands, LaVon A. and Richard Burg of Scottsbluff, Nebraska, Veregene and aRden Olson of Hunboldt, and Lois and Elson Von Hagel of Sioux City; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Walter; two sisters, Elizabeth Peterson and Florence Miller; and two brothers George and Charles Miller.
