Joseph M. Lucey, retired Merrill farmer, died at his 65, died Wednesday (October 21, 1959) at his home here at 129 7th Ave. SE after an illness of six months.
Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph Catholic church with Rev. Fr. M. Hood officiating. Burial will be in Calvary cemetery, where military honors will be accorded by American Legion Wasmer post.
Friends may call at the Wiltgen-Luedtke funeral home after Friday noon until service time.
Mr. Lucey was born April 3, 1894, at Carroll. His marriage to Alice Greenwood took place May 7, 1925, at Yankton, S. D. The couple farmed near Merrill until retiring and moving to Le Mars 14 years ago.
He was a member of Wasmer post and the Holy Name society.
Surviving are his wife; one daughter, Lois Ann, a student nurse at St. Vincent hospital, Sioux City; four brothers, George of Carroll, Dr. Lee I. Lucey of Wichita Falls, Tex., P. A. and M. A. Lucey, both of Sioux City, and three sisters, Mrs. Loretta Cody of LaJunta, Colo., Mrs. Clare Jones of Hawarden and Mrs. Florence Lambert of Le Mars.
