Ray Golden Funeral Rites Set Thursday
Raymond Thomas Golden 68, lifetime LeMars resident, died unexpectedly Tuesday morning at the wheel of his car in Le Mars.
He had driven to the Randall's Discount Food store parking lot. Police investigated after they were notified by Randall's store.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. James Catholic church in Le Mars with Rev. Eugene Murray officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery under direction of the Luken-Johnson funeral home.
Friends may call at the funeral home Wednesday afternoon and evening and the parish rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Mr. Golden was born July 14, 1903, in Le Mars, the son of Thomas J. and Jennie Roberts Golden.
He was graduated from Le Mars high school in 1923 and was employed in his father's grocery store and in other grocery stores before joining the State Highway Commission.He retired in 1968 from that commission after serving as foreman for 10 years. He was a member of the Le Mars volunteer fire department for 33 years, retiring from that position in 1968.
His marriage to Leona Wintz took place in Le Mars, June 2, 1924.
Survivors are his wife, Leona, Le Mars; two sons, Gerald of Spencer and James of Sioux City; a daughter, Mrs. Kenneth (Kathleen) Bohlke, Dayton; and 12 grandchildren.
