Vincent M. Pavlik, 78, of
Le Mars died Thursday July
18, 2002, at a Sioux City hospital
following a brief illness.

Services were at First
United Methodist Church in
Le Mars, with the Revs. Tom
Shinkle and Sara Malone officiating.

Burial was in Memorial
Cemetery in Le Mars.

Mr. Pavlik was born June
2,1924, in Sioux City, the son
of George and Amy
(McKercher) Pavlik. He
graduated from Le Mars
High School in 1943.

Pavlik enlisted in the U.S.
Navy and served overseas
during World War II. After
the war's conclusion, he
served as a second lieutenant
in the Iowa National
Guard.

He married Shirley
Heidbrink on Oct. 5, 1946.
They made their home on a
farm in Liberty Township.

He received his bachelor
of arts degree from Westmar
College and later attended
Iowa State University. He
earned a master of education
degree from the University
of South Dakota.

Pavlik taught at Hinton
and served as principal in
Westfield, Jefferson and
Walthill. He was a member
of American Legion Wasmer
Post 241 of Le Mars, World
War II last Man's Club, Lions
Club, and was a 32 Degree
Mason and a Shriner.

Survivors include his
wife; two sons; a daughter
and her husband; four
grandchildren and a brother.

He was preceded in death
by a son, a brother and an
infant sister.
