JEAN SWANSON
Jean Swanson, 88, of rural Hinton died unexpectedly Wednesday, June 20, 2001, at her residence. Mrs. Swanson was born July 28, 1912, in Hinton, the daughter of George and Vera (Lawrence) Ellison. She graduated from Hinton High School and attended Cedar Falls Teachers College in Cedar Falls, Iowa. She married Raymond Swanson on April 24, 1937, in Hinton. She taught country school for many years and farmed with her husband before retiring. Her husband died September 26, 2000, in Sioux City. Jean was a member of Grace Evangelical Church and Gideon Auxiliary. She was active in the Sioux City Gospel Mission. Survivors include a son and his wife, Paul and Mary Jo, of Hastings, Nebraska; a daughter and her husband, Mary and Gregg Gesche, of Merrill, Iowa; 5 grandchildren. She preceded in death by a sister Geraldine McEniry. Services were held at Grace Evangelical Church in Hinton. Burial was in Memorial Park Cemetery.
