FAYE YOERGER
Faye Yoerger, 85, of Independence and a former longtime rural Merrill resident died Thursday, Aug. 23, 2001, in Beebe, Arkansas, after a lengthy illness. The former Faye Tabke was born August 24, 1915, in Sioux City, the daughter of August and Sophie (Epling) Tabke. She grew up in Sioux City and graduated from Central high School. She was married to Noral McPherson, who died in 1935. On October 1, 1938, she married Charles Yoerger at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church Ellendale. For the first 20 years of their marriage, Faye was a homemaker and mother. From 1958 to 1960 she was employed with Liberty Consolidated School and from 1960 to 1962 at Le Mars Community School. In 1963 the couple moved to Independence. From 1963 to 1987, she was employed by Independence Community School as secretary to the principal at West Elementary School. Her husband Charles died July 6, 1978. She retired in 1987. Mrs. Yoerger was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church and the Altar Society in Independence. She was also a member of the Great Books Club. Survivors include her five children; Charles Yoerger and his wife Dorothy of Ames; Jan Kair of Minneapolis, Minnesota; Keith Yoerger and his wife Kim of Henderson, Nevada; Larry Yoerger and his wife Sandra of Cabot, Arkansas, and Don Yoerger and his wife Dianne of Hawarden; 20 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren. She preceded in death by her parents. Graveside services were held at St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery Ellendale, rural Merrill.
