Early Settler Taken By Death

Came Here In The Eighties

Last rites were held Sunday afternoon in Christ Lutheran church in Grant township for Mrs. Henry Johnson, early settler in Plymouth county, and interment made in the Grant township cemetery in charge of the Mauer funeral home. Rev. Fred Bunge conducted the services in the presence of a large number of relatives and neighbors.

Mrs. Johnson died Thursday afternoon at her home in Brunsville after an extended illness at the age of 82 years, 9 months and 26 days.

Helen Rolapp, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Henry Rolapp, was born April 20, 1857, in Utgast, Germany, where she grew to young womanhood. She was united in marriage March 10, 1882, with Henry G. Johnson and following their marriage, they emigrated to America and after living in Illinois one year they came to Le Mars and established a home in Grant township.

On retiring from active farm work they made their home in Brunsville.

Mrs. Johnson was a devoted wife and mother and a neighbor esteemed by all who knew her.

Mr. and Mrs. Johnson were the parents of nine children. The husband and four children preceded the mother in death.

Surviving to mourn her passing are Mrs. Will Borchers. Mrs. Diane Diediker, Martin, John, and Edward Johnson, all of Plymouth county; a brother, Henry Rolapp, of Le Mars and a sister, Mrs. Henry Ommen, of Grant township.
