Mrs. Dirks, wife of John Dirks, of Brunsville, died at the city hospital on Tuesday after a long illness lasting seventeen weeks. Her death is a great blow to her husband and large family of young children and to her brothers and sisters.

Her maiden name was Marie Borchers, and she was born on March 27, 1870, at Monee, Ill. When a girl her family moved to Plymouth county and on February 23, 1892. She became the bride of John H. Dirks, the marriage taking place in Preston township. They lived for a number of years in Le Mars and were moving to the new town of Brunsville this spring when Mrs. Dirks was taken sick.

Besides the bereaved husband she leaves a large family of children, five boys and three girls, to mourn her death and miss a loving mother’s tender care. The children are Ben, Fred, Henry, Edward, Anna, Will, Minnie, and Marie. She also leaves an aged mother Mrs. Borchers, and six brothers and two sisters, who are, Henry, of Johnson township; August, Ben, Louis, Will, and John, of Preston township; Mrs. Chas. Mammen and Mrs. Meint Eilers.

The funeral services were held yesterday at St. John’s Lutheran church, Rev. J. J. Vollmar preaching the sermon and the remains were taken to the Grant township Lutheran cemetery for interment.

Mrs. Dirks was a devoted wife and mother, an ideal homemaker and was greatly beloved by a very large circle of relatives and friends who had learned to love her. She was a true friend and good neighbor, a Christian woman and her death is deeply deplored by a large number who extend condolence and sympathy to the husband and motherless young children.
