THOMAS E. HELD

Thomas Held, 75, of Hinton died Sunday April 4, 1999, at Floyd Valley Hospital in Le Mars, Iowa.

Mr. Held was born July 3, 1923, in Le Mars, the son of George and Agnes (Eyres) Held. He grew up in the Hinton area. He was vary active in livestock shows and attended Hinton schools. He served in the U. S. Army during World War 11.

On October 11, 1953, he married Bev Oetken at Brunsville. They farmed east of Hinton for many years retiring in 1985.

He was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church in Brunsville. He had been a substitute rural mail carrier for 22 years. He served as a 4-H leader and was a member of the Plymouth County Fair Board for many years. He served on the Plymouth County Extension council. He was a member of the Hinton Casper American Legion Post 477 and of the Hinton Civic Club. He also sang with the Floyd Valley Barbershop choral group.

Survivors include his wife, Bev of Hinton, one son Scott Held and wife Teresa of Hinton, three daughters Rebecca and her husband Merle Shay of Le Mars, Rence and her husband Michael Loutsch of Sioux City, and Kimberly and her husband Mike Olson of Elk Point, South Dakota, one brother Dr. Stanley Held and his wife Suzie of Buffalo, Minnesota, a sister Katherine Shores of Columbus, Indiana, six grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services were held on Thursday at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Brunsville. Burial was in St. Peter Cemetery.
