SERVICES FOR EMILY JORDT
Emily Ann Jordt, 12, of Westfield, Iowa, died Monday March 15, 1999, at St. Luke’s Regional Medical Center in Sioux City following her battle with cancer. Funeral services will be on Friday March 19, 1999, at 2 P. M. at Trinity Lutheran Church, 12th and Jackson Streets in Sioux City. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in Sioux City. Visitation will be on Thursday March 18 1999 from 1 to 3:30 P. M. at the Schroeder Funeral Home in Akron. Visitation will resume at 5 P. M. in the new gymnasium of the Akron –Westfield School in Akron until 8:30 P. M. with a 6:30 prayer service officiated by Rev. Pete Petersen and Rev. William Flemr. Emily was born on February 15, 1987, in Sioux City, the daughter of Bill and Deb (Grondahl) Jordt. She was baptized at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Sioux City on April 19, 1987. She was a student in the 6th grade at the Akron-Westfield school where she was very active in many activities. She was a member of the school band, served as a customer representative for the Westerner Bank and was on the honor roll many times. She played soccer in the Siouxland “Y” Rec League, enjoyed playing the piano, softball, basketball, reading and music. She also enjoyed camping, hunting, ice fishing, and loved her numerous pets. She had served on the planning committee for Relay for Life of Plymouth County and had addressed St. Luke’s Regional Medical Center on Pediatric Care. Emily was also a Children’s Miracle Network Champion. She was very active in the Immanuel Lutheran church of Sioux City and enjoyed spending time with her family and numerous friends. Survivors include her parents, Bill and Deb Jordt of Westfield, Iowa; paternal grandmother, Betty Jordt of Sioux City, Iowa; maternal grandparents, Dale and Lorraine Grondahl of Buffalo, Minnesota; four uncles and aunts,Kathy and Orvie Holen of Brandt, South Dakota, Kim and Richard Paulson, of Maple Lake, Minnesota, Loren and Suzie Grondahl of Montrose, Minnesota, and John and Mary Jordt of Vermillion, South Dakota; seven cousins. Emily preceded in death by her paternal grandfather, Donald Jordt.
