Funeral services were held on Wednesday at the Presbyterian United Church of Christ in Le Mars for Diane Elizabeth Fischer, 38, of Merrill, who died Saturday January 31, 1998, at her home. Mrs. Fischer, the former Diane Elizabeth Holtz, was born March 2, 1959, at Akron, Iowa, the daughter of Dale and Donna (Crow) Holtz. The lifelong Plymouth county resident graduated from Le Mars Community School in 1977. She worked for Dean’s in Le Mars for several years, also at K-Products in Orange City, at the Casey’s store in Merrill, and served as secretary for the Presbyterian United church of Christ in Le Mars for three years. She married Keith Fischer at Merrill on November 22, 1992. She was a member of the Merrill United Methodist Church and had served as the Sunday school superintendent as well as being a Sunday school teacher. She served as a lay speaker in the church, sang in the church choir, led the youth group and assisted her husband as financial secretary of the church. Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Marie and Miranda,, both at home; her parents Dale and Donna Holtz of Merrill; two brothers Dale and his special friend,Terry Williams, of Le Mars, and Dustin of Merrill; a sister Darla Carter of Sioux City; her father-in-law, Marvin Fischer, of Le Mars; a special Aunt Roberta Willett of Le Mars; and 13 nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her grandparents and mother-in-law. Burial was in the Stanton Township Cemetery.
