John F. Borchers Called By Death Last Thursday

Rites Held Sunday For Pioneer Akron Area Resident

John F. Borchers, a lifetime and esteemed resident of western Plymouth county, passed away last Thursday, May 13, after a several weeks illness, aged 84 years, 2 months and 28 days, at the Akron hospital.

Mr. Borchers was born February 16, 1881, at LeMars, Iowa, and grew to manhood in this county. On October 10, 1906, he was united in marriage with Miss Kate Reemts in Union county, S.D. They farmed east of Akron until retiring in 1945 and moving to town. His wife preceded him in death in October, 1963. Their union was blessed with three daughters and one son.

Mr. Borchers suffered a stroke while visiting his daughter, Mrs. B. Fisher, in Chino, Calif., and about a month ago was brought here for hospital treatment.

Held in high esteem for his many fine qualities, Mr. Borchers will be sincerely missed by his many friends.

Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Norman Heeren of LeMars, Mrs. Lucian Cornish of Ireton, Iowa, and Mrs. Benny Fisher of Chino, Calif., and one son, Elmer of Akron.

Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon in St. John Lutheran church, Preston township, Rev. Conrad Guetzlaff officiating. Richard Hillrichs was soloist and Mrs. William Van Buskirk was accompanist. burial was in the church cemetery.
