Last rites for Gottlieb Lehmann, 89 years of age and a pioneer of Plymouth County, were held Saturday at 2 p.m. in the German Lutheran church at Merrill, and burial was made in the cemetery at that place under the direction of the White funeral home.
Mr. Lehmann was born October 25, 1844, in Burgberg province of Baden, Germany and immigrated to America in 1865, going to Racine, Wis. Three years later he moved to Bellevue, Iowa, where he was married to Anna Marie Goetz.
The couple moved to Merrill in 1871, homesteading on a farm from which they retired in 1907 to reside in Merrill.
Surviving are five sons, John, Andrew, Jacob and Christ of Merrill, and Mathies of Lost Corner, Ark.; one daughter, Mrs. Sellmma Deutschle of Merrill; 25 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
