Feb. 1968, Mrs. Fred Onken= LEMARS, Iowa- Special:

Mrs. Fred Onken, 85, LeMars; died Thursday at a LeMars hospital after an illness of more than a year.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Christ Lutheran Church, Grant Township, Plymouth Co., Iowa. The Rev. Robert Reitz will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. A prayer service will be at 8 p.m. Friday at Mauer Funeral Home in LeMars. Mrs. Onken, the former Catharina Doering, was born Oct. 11, 1844 (*misprint should be 1884), on a farm near LeMars. She was married Feb. 22, 1905, on a farm near LeMars. She was a lifelong resident of Plymouth Co. She and her husband farmed near LeMars until retiring in 1944. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Feb. 22, 1955. He died in 1962.

Survivors include a daughter, Miss Hannah Onken of LeMars; a brother John of LeMars, and a sister, Mrs. Engle (*Engel) Landgraf of Huntington Beach, Calif.
