A Carstensen Suffers Fatal Heart Attack
Funeral Monday at Merrill Church

Funeral services for Andrew Christian Carstensen, 84, retired farmer and longtime resident of the Merrill vicinity were at 2 p.m. Monday at St. John Lutheran Church, Merrill.

The Rev. K.J. Hodum officiated. Burial was in the Merrill Hillside Cemetary under direction of Mauer's funeral home.

Mr. Carstensen died unexpectedly Friday after suffering a heart attack at his home in Merrill.

Born Aug. 12, 1877, at Niebull, Schleswig, Germany, he came to this country at the age of 13 and had resided in Merrill community since. He retired to Merrill in 1937.

He was a charter member of St. John Lutheran Church, Merrill.

Andrew Carstensen and Amanda Karli were married Feb. 4, 1903 at Merrill. She survives as do five children, Mrs Milo (Marie) Hughes, Mrs. Wes (Mabel) Hamilton, Felix, Clarence and Mrs. Albert (Lucille) Husman all of Merrill, 11 grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren.

He was proceeded in death by two daughters in infancy, a grandchild, two sisters and a brother.
