Note: One of her son's spells her maiden name Jensen but is most likely Janssen.

Mrs. Mary Bruns Taken By Death Final Rites Held
Sunday Afternoon

Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at Christ Lutheran church for Mrs. Mary Bruns of Brunsville. The Rev. H. Flentje of Brunsville conducted the service and interment was made in the family plot in the Grant township cemetery.

Mrs. Bruns died Wednesday, August 16, at the home of her son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Will Bruns, of Brunsville, after a lingering illness. She had been failing in health for the past year.

Mary Janssen was born November 15, 1857, in Oldenburg, Germany, and when a baby was brought to the United States by her parents. She was united in marriage with John Bruns at Sterling, Illinois, July 4, 1878. After their marriage they lived near Sterling for six years and then went to Raymond, Dakota, where they took up a homestead where they lived for nineteen years. They moved to a farm west of Le Mars in 1901. She went to live with her son in 1934 in Brunsville.

She is survived by three daughters and three sons, Mrs. Wm, Dirks of Spencer, Iowa, Mrs. Henry Dirks of Akron, Mrs. R. D. Mulder of Billings, Mont., William and Louis of Brunsville, Fred of Lamberton, Minn.; a sister,, Mrs. Leona Onken of Morrison, Ill.; twenty-seven grand-children and twelve greatgrandchildren. Ten of her grandsons are serving with the armed forces.

Her husband died in May, 1904, and a son and two daughters preceded her in death.
