Chester L. Britton, Sioux Co. Patrolman, Dies At Alton Home
Chester LeRoy Britton, 65, Sioux county patrol officer until his retirement last year because of poor health, died Sunday, Mar. 14, at his home at Alton.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the residence at Alton and at 2 p.m. at the Mauer funeral home. Burial will be in the LeMars City cemetery.
Mr. Britton was born May 10, 1888, at LeMars [to Orris Lyman & Nellie (Cook) Britton]. He had farmed near Seney until moving to Alton in 1941. He married Viola Mae Osborne on Jan. 25, 1915, at Seney.
Survivors are his wife, Viola Mae; two daughters, Mrs. LeRoy (Ethel) Schneider of Paullina, and Mrs. William (Earlynne) Frerichs of Alton; a son, Earl of Sheldon; five (half-)sisters and three (half-)brothers [children of Orrie & Birdie (Darvill) Britton]. Also surviving are four grandchildren, John and Linda Britton of Sheldon and Karen and Nancy Frerichs of Alton; and an aunt, Mrs. Minnie (Cook) Bowen of Maurice.
