CHEROKEE, Iowa -- Mrs. Irvin R. Morey, 80, Cherokee, died Saturday at a Cherokee nursing home following a lengthy illness. [Aug. 27, 1977]

Services will be a 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Boothby Funeral Home, Cherokee. The Rev. Francis Henderson will officicate. Burial will be in Cedar Cemetery in Larrabee.

Mrs. Morey, the former Leona Scholl, was born April 25, 1897, in Anita. She was married Dec. 9, 1917, in Larrabee. Mr. Morey died Feb. 23, 1976.

Mrs. Morey had lived in Cherokee the past eight and a half years. Before that she had lived on a farm in Spring Township.

She taught Sunday School for more than 50 years.

Survivors include a son, Joseph of Minneapolis; three daughters, Mrs. Clarence (Winnifred) Montgomery of Cherokee, Mrs. Gordon (Peggy) Bryant of Sutherland and Mrs. Wallace (Shirley) Rundall of Moville; a sister, Mrs. Annabelle Oberg of Ft. Worth, Tex.; a half-brother David Carney of Mitchell, S.D.; 13 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
