ELAM B. CHAPMAN
Elam Burt Chapman of Maurice passed away October 2, 1957, at Maurice rural route after a sickness of several months.
He was born February 4, 1872, at Independence, Iowa. He was 85 yrs, 7 months and 28 days. He was a retired farmer. He lived at Independence, Iowa, until the age of eleven when he went to Sioux county where he has lived since.
Mr. Chapman and Mary Elizabeth Alderson were married December 28, 1893, at the home of the bride in Seney, Iowa.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 5, 1957, at 2:00 p.m. at Seney Methodist church with burial in the LeMars City cemetery under the direction of Mauer funeral home. Rev. W. N. Baker and Rev. T. G. Cannaday will officiate at the last rites.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Elizabeth; a daughter, Fern (Mrs. Orville Cooper) of Maurice; three sons, Earl and Marion of LeMars and Orville Chapman of Maurice. He has five grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends who survive.
Mr. Chapman was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, a son, a daughter and a granddaughter.
