27 December 1953Mrs. Sara Begg, longtime Plymouth resident and pioneer of Union township, passed away at her home at 909 1st Ave., S.E. in LeMars on Sunday December 27, at the age of 85 years, 10 months and 5 days.
Mrs. Begg, who made her home with her sister, Miss Ethel Eyres, was an arthritic, but had not been bedfast and was able to be up and around until her death. She suffered an attack on Saturday morning and passed away on Sunday.
Sara Eyres was born February 22, 1868, in Ontario, Canada. She came to the United States in 1882, settling with her folks in Union township, Plymouth county. In 1902 she retired to LeMars. On Jan. 13, 1913, she was united in marriage with William Begg, who preceded her in death.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, December 30, at 2:00 p.m. at the Mauer funeral chapel with Rev. J.B. Ransom officiating. Burial will be in the city cemetery under direction of the Mauer funeral home.
The family has requested that no flowers be sent for the deceased. Anyone who wishes to extend sympathy in this way, is requested to donate to their favorite charity. The family has also requested that the casket will not be open at the funeral home.
Survivors include a sister, Miss Ethel Eyres and a brother Charles E. Eyres of Union township. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive. Deceased was preceded in death by her husband and 6 brothers and two sisters. She was a member of the Presbyterian church of LeMars.
