Henry H. Kleihauer

Henry H. Kleihauer, 72, Le Mars, Plymouth county native and lifelong resident, was dead oh arrival Saturday (March 4, 1989) at Floyd Valley hospital, Le Mars of an apparent heart attack.

Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Christ Lutheran church, Grant township, rural Le Mars, with Rev. Jack Hebard officiating. Burial was in Christ Lutheran cemetery under direction of Mauer-Johnson funeral home.

He was born Oct. 20, 1916, in Grant township, to Henry and Johanna Dirks Kleihauer. He married Jean Benters Feb. 20, 1941, at Rock Falls, Ill. Mr. Kleihauer started farming in 1946, retiring in 1978.

He was a member of Christ Lutheran church where he served as a deacon, trustee and usher and was on the cemetery board of the church. He was a World War II veteran and member of Heeren, McHale-Wilken American Legion Post 724.

Survivors are his wife, Jean Kleihauer, Le Mars; five sisters, Mrs. Cletus (Mary) Wiebersch, Mrs. Matie Ruble, Mrs. Etta Beitelspacher, Mrs. Fred (Emma) Harms, all of Le Mars and Mrs. John (Lillian) Moller of Craig; two brothers, Otto Kleihauer of Le Mars and Albert Kleihauer of Cherokee.

He was preceded in death by two brothers., John and John A., and a sister, Anna.
