Paul “Leo” LaBahn, 55, of Merrill, passed away on Friday September 9, 2011 at Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City, following a short illness.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, September 14, 2011 at Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church in Merrill, Iowa with Reverend Dan Greving officiating. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Le Mars, Iowa. Visitations will be after 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 13, 2011 at the Carlsen-Feuerstein Funeral Home in Le Mars with a 7:00 p.m. Scriptural Wake Service Tuesday evening at the funeral home. Visitations will continue Wednesday morning from 9:30 a.m. until service time at the church. Expressions of sympathy may be extended to the family through www.carlsenfuneralhome.com.

Pallbearers will be Chad LaBahn, Ryan LaBahn, Derek LaBahn, Rick Lindsey, Lowell Penning, and Lon Penning. Honorary casket bearers will be Shelia, Betty, Paula, Teresa, Kris, Carl, Bruce, Perry, Kevin, Bill, Gary, Scott, and the staff of Deer Run Golf Course; and all of the “Leo Invitational” Golfers over the last 22 years.

Paul James LaBahn was born August 14, 1956 at Le Mars, IA, the son of Richard and Agnes (Colling) LaBahn. He grew up in Merrill and attended elementary school in Merrill and Gehlen Catholic in Le Mars. Leo graduated from Le Mars Community High School with the class of 1974. Throughout his life he had been employed with various construction companies and since 1994 had been employed with the Deer Run Golf Course in Hinton.

Leo was a member of Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church in Merrill. He enjoyed spending time with his family and many friends.

Survivors include his mother, Agnes LaBahn of Merrill; five siblings: Rod (Sandy) LaBahn of Le Mars, Dorothy (Loren) Johnson of Greeley, CO, Wayne LaBahn of Merrill, Keith (Ingrid) LaBahn of Fort Collins, CO, and Jerry LaBahn of Greeley, CO, three nieces; three nephews, and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Richard “Dick” LaBahn.

Memorials in memory of Leo may be directed to the Deer Run Golf Course in Hinton.
