Mary Ann Kelly, 86, of Le Mars passed away early Friday, September 16, 2011 at the Plymouth Manor Care Center in Le Mars.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 21, 2011 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Le Mars with Reverend Kevin Richter officiating. Interment will be at a later date at the Calvary Cemetery in Le Mars. Visitations will be after 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 20, 2011 at the Carlsen-Feuerstein Funeral Home in Le Mars. A combined Catholic Daughters and Christian Mother’s Rosary will be at 4:00 p.m. followed by a 7:00 p.m. Vigil Wake Service Tuesday evening at the funeral home. Visitations will continue Wednesday morning at the church after 10:00 a.m. until service time. Expressions of sympathy can be extended to the family through www.carlsenfuneralhome.com. Arrangements are with the Carlsen-Feuerstein Funeral Home of Le Mars.
Pallbearers will be Eric Mitchell, John Hermes, Jason Kelly, and Douglas Weber.
Mary Ann Weber was born July 29, 1925 in Le Mars, Iowa to Victor and Anna (Wilhelmi) Weber. Mary Ann attended St. Joseph Catholic School through the 8th grade and graduated from Le Mars Central High School in 1944. As a young girl, Mary Ann was a show horse rider with a horse owned by Dr. Bruscher. At an early age, Mary was an accomplished bowler; taught by her father, a national bowling champion, and family. Mary Ann was united in marriage to Ron Kelly on May 22, 1946 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Le Mars. Ron and Mary Ann were blessed with 6 children: Paul, David, Ann, Kevin, Jean Marie, and Jane.
Mary Ann had been a lifelong member of St. Joseph Catholic Church where she had been a member of the Christian Mothers and Catholic Daughters organizations. She had also been a past president of the parish Guild. She was a very accomplished musician; having played the piano and sang in the church choir.
Mary Ann and Ron enjoyed spending many winters in Mesa, Arizona. She enjoyed entertaining family and friends in her home. She also enjoyed the occasional trip to a casino to play the slots. As her health declined, in October of 2010, she moved to Plymouth Manor Care Center.
Survivors include her husband of 65 years, Ron of Le Mars; 6 children: Paul Kelly of Oyens, David Kelly of Le Mars, Ann Kelly of Eugene, OR, Kevin Kelly of Chandler, AZ, Jean Marie Kelly and her husband Tom Houlihan of North Aurora, IL, and Jane Kelly-Forret and her husband Mike of Ankeny, IA; grandchildren: Jason Kelly, Justin Kelly, Tess Kelly-Forret, Camille Kelly-Forret, Katherine Houlihan, Andrea Houlihan, Kevin Houlihan, Mary Houlihan, Monique Kelly, Lewis Kelly, Christopher Kelly, and Matthew Kelly; several great grandchildren; a sister, Lois Dull of Lee’s Summit, MO; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her siblings.
