George J. Frerichs, 67, Akron, died Sunday (March 11, 1973) at Sioux City St. Joseph hospital after a brief illness.

The funeral was held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in St. John's Lutheran Church, Preston Township, rural Akron, with Rev. James Sandvik officiated. Pall bearers were Alfred Kroepel, Donald Schmidt, Gene Erks, Gerald Frerichs, Raymond Andresen, Lu Vois Schmidt. Burial was in the church cemetery under the direction of the Schroeder Funeral Home of Akron.

He was born July 25,1905, the son of the late Carl and Margaret (Harms) Frerichs. He was a lifelong farmer, retiring in 1972. He was married to Elnora Schmidt at Trinity Lutheran Church January 23, 1929 at Akron.

Survivors are his wife; two daughters, Mrs. Varold (Lois) Voss of Akron and Mrs. Gary (Shirley) Popken of Sioux City; one son, Virgil D. of Hinton; 11 grandchildren; one brother, Claus of Le Mars; and four sisters, Mrs. Harry Seibels and Mrs. John Schmidt, both of Le Mars, and Emma and Minnie Frerichs both of Akron.
