CECELIA M. LUCKEN

Mrs. J. Henry (Cecilia M.) Lucken, 92, Akron, a rural Merrill native, died unexpectedly Friday (Nov. 2, 1990) at the Akron Care Center.

Funeral was at 1:30 today (Monday) at Plymouth Presbyterian Church. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Visitation was from 6:30-8 p.m. Sunday at the Schroeder Funeral Home in Akron.

Mrs. Lucken, the former Cecelia Margarette Woll, was born July 27, 1898, and raised on a rural Merrill farm. She attended rural school in Johnson Township.

Her marriage to J. Henry Lucken took place Dec. 17, 1917, at Merrill. They farmed in Johnson Township until retiring into LeMars in 1961.

Her husband, J. Henry Lucken, served in the Iowa House of Representatives for ten years and in the State Senate for 14 years prior to his retirement. He died June 30, 1984.

After several months in the Brentwood Good Samaritan Nursing Home in LeMars and after her husband’s death, she moved to the Hospital Apartments in Akron. She had moved to the Akron Care Center within the last year.

She was a member of the Plymouth Presbyterian Church, U.P.W., Veterans of World War I Auxiliary, LeMars Woman’s Club and the Abu-Bekr Shrine Auxiliary.

Mrs. Lucken served many years with the Plymouth County Republican Women, and held offices in the Iowa Legislative Ladies League, Akron Legion Auxiliary and the Plymouth County Veterans of World War I Barracks 1507 Auxiliary.

Survivors are five children: Lucille Fox, of Sacramento, Calif.; Donald of Akron; Robert of Florissant, Mo.; Frank of Coronado, Calif.; and Ronald of Hillsborough, Calif.; a sister, Frances Burke of Jefferson, S.D.; ten grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Cleo and Josephine; a brother, Jack Woll; and a grandson, Mark.
