SERVICES HELD JAN. 27TH FOR DWIGHT FLETCHER
Dwight T. Fletcher, 88, Hillsboro, died January 27, 1994, at his home.
Memorial services where held Monday afternoon at Bronleewe-Bass Funeral Home Chapel, with Chaplain Ray Holder of Tuality Community Hospital officiating.
Private interment was in Fir Lawn Cemetery.
Mr. Fletcher was born Oct. 29, 1905, in Iowa, one of 10 children of Thomas Edward and Ruth King Fletcher. While he was young, the family moved to Burke, S.D., where he was raised and educated.
On May 1, 1937, he and his wife Marguerite, were married in Deadwood, S.D. They moved to the Hillsboro area in 1942 and observed their 56th wedding anniversary last year.
Mr. Fletcher worked in the Swan Island shipyards during World War II.
He then became an independent contractor, painting and decorating interiors and exteriors of commercial and residential buildings. His company had painted many of the buildings in Hillsboro.
Mr. Fletcher was a 50-year member of Painters and Decorators Union Local 10.
Survivors include his wife, Marguerite Fletcher, Hillsboro; a son and daughter-in-law, Ed and Judith Fletcher, Portland; a daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Mike Edwards, Madison, Conn.; two granddaughters; two grandsons; a great granddaughter; a sister, Floy Stone, Hillsboro; a brother, Gordon Fletcher, of California; and a cousin Eunice Buryanek of Burke, S.D., and nephew, Lowell Norman, Burke, S.D.
The family suggests memorial contributions to Jackson Bottom Wetlands, in care of Bronleewe-Bass Funeral Home, which was in charge of arrangements.
