J. Henry Oltmanns
J. Henry Oltmanns, 85, Le Mars, died Wednesday (Nov. 27,1985) in the Floyd Valley hospital in Le Mars of a brief illness. Mr. Oltmanns farmed in the Craig area for many years.
Services were held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in Christ Lutheran church, Grant township, rural Le Mars. The Rev. Jack Hebard officiated. Burial was in the church cemetery under the direction of the Mauer-Johnson funeral home in Le Mars.
Mr. Oltmanns was born July 22, 1900 in Oldenburg, Germany. He came to the United States in 1907. He married Amanda Popken Feb. 9, 1933 in rural Craig. She died Feb. 7, 1984. He was a lifelong Grant township farmer.
Mr. Oltmanns was a member of Christ Lutheran church, Grant township.
Survivors include three sons, Wendell and Merlyn, both of Le Mars, and Arlan of Sioux City: two daughters, Mrs. Cliff (Verda Jean) Koerselman of Le Mars and Mrs. Randall (Jeanette) Jensen of Merrill; a sister, Mrs. Sena Pageler of Le Mars; 12 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
