(July 23, 1918 - May 11, 2011)Le Mars, Iowa-Edna L. Boysen, 92, of Fort Scott, Kansas, formerly of Le Mars, Iowa passed away Wednesday May 11, 2011 at Medicalodge in Fort Scott, KS. Funeral services will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, May 16, 2011 at Christ Lutheran Church (Grant Township) rural Le Mars, Iowa. Rev. Ben Worley will officiate. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. Visitation will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 15, 2011 at the Mauer-Johnson Funeral Home in Le Mars. The family will be present from 5-8 p.m. with a prayer service scheduled at 7:00 p.m. There will also be one hour of visitation at the church prior to the funeral on Monday.
Edna Louise (Heeren) Boysen was born on July 23, 1918, in rural Le Mars, Iowa the daughter of Albert and Lena (Croon) Heeren. She was baptized and confirmed at Christ Lutheran Church, rural Le Mars.
On December 2, 1945, she married Albert Boysen of Montrose, South Dakota at Christ Lutheran Church. The couple farmed in Grant Township until Albert died in 1973 after a farm accident. Edna then moved to Le Mars where she continued to work for Harker’s until her retirement.
Edna remained a member of Christ Lutheran Church all her life and participated in Faith Circle until she moved to the nursing home in Kansas. She was also a former member of the Ladies Farm Bureau. She enjoyed quilting, embroidery, gardening and reading as long as her health allowed.
Edna is survived by two daughters, Carol (Richard) Hoke of Mt. Vernon, Iowa and Lois (Marlin) Schroeder of Ft. Scott, Kansas; two grandsons, William Hoke and Justin Schroeder; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband; an infant son Loren; her parents; two sisters; two sisters-in-law; six brothers-in-law; and two nephews.
