On Monday August Hartmann was drowned in the Sioux river, at Correctionville. He was chopping wood near the river on the opposite side from where he lived and started across toward home when the ice gave way and he was drowned. The body was soon afterward found.
Mr. Hartmann was a son of John Hartmann of this city and has a wife and four children to mourn his loss. He is also a half brother of Theodore Hartmann who has recently been so fortunate in getting his hand and arm fractured in a shelter.
The remains were brought to the home of his parents, in the Addition on Wednesday, and from thence taken to Melbourne for interment on Thursday.
