RITES HELD FOR MRS. BORCHERS

Funeral services for Mrs. John E. (Katherine) Borchers, 79, who died unexpectedly Thursday, October 10, a few minutes after her entrance into the Lutheran hospital in Sioux City, were held at 2:30 Sunday at St. John’s Lutheran Church near Akron with burial in the church cemetery. Rev. Conrad Guetzlaff conducted the services.

Mrs. Borchers was born April 24, 1884, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Reemts, at Forreston, Ill. At the age of five she came to Portland township in Iowa, later moving to Union county, South Dakota.

In 1906 her marriage on October 10 to John F. Borchers, the couple lived on a farm in Plymouth County until 1945 when she and her husband retired to Akron.

She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church and the Ladies Aid Society.

Preceding her in death were her parents, three brothers and three sisters.

Survivors include the widower; a son, Elmer Borchers of Akron; three daughters, Mrs. Ben (Amanda) Fisher of Encino, Calif., Mrs. Lucian (Irene) Cornish of Ireton, and Mrs. Norman (Esther) Heeren of LeMars; 11 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
