Ray Beitelspacher was born on July 11, 1873, at New Lustdorf, Russia, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Beitelspacher, (nee Harmann), and died January 20, 1938, at the age of 64 years, 6 months and 9 days. He had been sick for the past three years, suffering from an internal malady but was up and around most of the time.

At the age of 19 years, he emigrated to the United States, coming to Plymouth county where he worked for nearly 13 years. On April 25, 1907, he was united in marriage to Miss Rosina Gartner. They took up housekeeping in Grant township and farmed for several years in Sioux county. Later they acquired a home of their own by hard and diligent labor. Mr. Beitelspacher was a prominent farmer and stock raiser in this community, and a good neighbor and friend. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran church in Russia. He was an active member for many years in Christ Lutheran church, where ho regularly attended.

He leaves t o mourn, his wife, Rose, and six children, Mrs. Caroline Haudenschild of Brunsville; Henry of Le Mars; John, of Sioux county; Emma, Earnest and Louise at home; two granddaughters, Marlene and Gladys Haudenschild; three brother, John, of Java, S. D.; Fred, of Lowry, S. D.; and Edward of Cornelius, Oregon; three sisters, Mrs. Heisner of Tacoma, Wash.; Rose Beitelspacher, of Aberdeen, S. D.; and one sister in Russia. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services were held on Monday afternoon at one o'clock from the home and at 1:45 o'clock at Christ Lutheran church. Rev. Bunge conducted the services. He was laid to rest in the family plot in the Grant township cemetery with Mauer's in charge of the arrangements.

Pallbearers were Martin Frerichs, Henry Seibels, Henry Janssen, Herman Wessel, Carl Mammen and Onno Onken.
