MRS. HERMAN BRUNKEN DIES UNEXPECTEDLY AT HER HOME HERE RITES SET FRIDAY

Mrs. Herman (Mary Johanna) Brunken, 67, who resided at 127 First Ave. NW. died unexpectedly at her home Tuesday. She had been ill for about a month.

Maria Johanna Lubben was born May 16, 1897, in Grant township, near Le Mars. Her marriage to Herman Brunken took place Nov. 30. 1916, at her parents' home in Grant township. Her parents were Albert Lubben and Margaret Kleinhauer Lubben. She had lived on a farm with her husband until they retired moving to Le Mars in 1950. Funeral services will be held Friday at 2 p. m. at St. John America. Lutheran church, with burial in Le Mars Memorial cemetery under direction of the Mauer funeral home. Prayer service will be at 8 p. m. Thursday evening at the funeral home. Rev. L. L. Belk and Rev. Robert Floy will officiate.

Survivors are her husband, Herman Brunken; two sons, Clarence and Norman, both of Le Mars; two daughters, Mrs. Ray (Esther) Renken of Le Mars and Mrs. Leonard (Marian) Schmidt of Craig; 13 grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. Also surviving are four brothers, Henry, John, Philip and Albert Lubben, all of Le Mars; four sisters, Mrs. John Oetken, Mrs. Harry Westhoff and Mrs. Arnold Westhoff, all of Le Mars, and Mrs. Bruno Brunken of Struble.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, William, and a brother and a sister in infancy.

She was a member of St. John's American Lutheran church and an active member of the Lutheran church women's society.
