Note: She was 13 or 14 at the time of her mother’s death. She was born in 1876 and her mother died in 1890. There were only 7 brothers at the time of her mother’s death not 9. Two children died in infancy.

LIFELONG COUNTY RESIDENT CALLED BY DEATH FRIDAY

Mrs. Elizabeth Parker Summoned Following Appendicitis Operation

Mrs. Elizabeth Parker, a life-long resident. of western Plymouth County, passed away at the Akron Hospital on Friday, September 28, 1934, following an operation for appendicitis, at the age of 58 years, 2 months and 23, days.

Elizabeth Hoffman, only daughter of Edward and Harriet Hoffman, homesteaders of Johnson Township, this county, was born July 4, 1876 Her mother died when she was only nine years old, leaving her with nine brothers and her father to make a home for, which she did successfully.

She was married to Charles Morehead on March 4, 1895, and eleven children were horn to this union. Mr. Morehead passed away May 27, 1918, and again she was left-to carry on for a large family. They were living near Akron at that time. She carried on for a number of years alone. On Jannary 9,1923, she was married to Wenzel Parker, enjoying each other’s companionship until Mr. Parker passed away March 30, 1932.

Mrs. Parker was a cheerful) loving and devoted wife, mother and neighbor, always ready to greet people with a warm hand-clasp and a cheery smile. She will be sincerely missed and mourned in this community, where she spent her entire life.

Left to mourn her untimely departure are four sons and seven daughters. Guy Morehead Mrs. Alma Port Mrs. Lucetta Port, Strachy Morehead Clare Morehead, Mrs. Dorothy Miller Mrs. Hope Lucken, Mrs. Madge Kellogg, all of this community, and Joy Morehead and Charles Morebead, Jr. at home; also four living brothers George Hoffman, of Wisconsin.; Chas Hoffman, of Sioux City; Bert Hoffman, of Oyens, Ia., and Frank Hoffman, of Elk Point, S. D. There are 17 grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends

Funeral services were held at the U. B. church at Adaville, Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock, conducted by the pastor, Rev. N. A. Hollingshead, and Rev. W. E. Smith, of Plymouth Presbyterian Church, Crathorne. The Adaville male quartet sang three selections. The rostrum was covered with a bank of beautiful flowers. The church was packed and a great many people stood outside during the-services. Friends came from far and near to pay their last tribute of respect to one whom they highly esteemed. Interment was made in Riverside Cemetery, Akron.
