Dorothy A. Jelken, 58, rural Le Mars, died at home Monday, Feb. 25. 1991, after an extended illness.

Services were held Thursday, Feb. 28, at St. Peter Lutheran church, Brunsville. The Rev. Jack Hebard officiated. Burial was in Memorial Cemetery, Le Mars, under direction of the Mauer-Johnson funeral home Le Mars.

Mrs. Jelken was born on July 5, 1932, in Union township of Plymouth County to Alfred J. and Herlig N.(Kloster) Nielsen. She married Harold H. Jelken on November 9, 1952, in St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, Preston Township, rural Akron. Mrs. Jelken was employed for many years at the First State Bank, Brunsville. She was a member of St. Peter Lutheran church, Brunsville, and past president of the women of the E.L.C.A. She attended country school in Washington Township and graduated from Le Mars high school in 1950.

She is survived by her husband, Harold H. Jelken, Le Mars; a son, Greg Jelken and his wife, Mary Kay, Le Mars; a daughter, Lynn Spink and her husband, Cecil, Kingsley; five grandchildren, Jennifer and Jonathon Spink, Kingsley, and Jason, Kevin and Tony Jelken, Le Mars; a brother, Dennis Nielsen, Hilton Head, South Carolina; and a sister, Mrs. Harry (Donna) Kienzle, Potsdam, N.Y.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Dolores Reinholdt; a brother in infancy; two nephews; and a great niece.
