Amanda B. Byers, 96, of Moville died Thursday, Dec. 17, 1992, at Colonial Manor of Kingsley, after a lengthy illness.

Services were Saturday at the Moville United Methodist Church with the Rev. Orrin T. Potter officiating. Burial was in Arlington Township Cemetery. Visitation was after 3 p.m. Friday with the family present from 7 to 8 p.m., at the McCulloch Funeral Home in Moville.

Mrs. Byers, the former Amanda Singer, was born Sept. 11, 1896, in Union Township, Plymouth County. She taught in rural schools in Plymouth County for eight years. She married Ben Byers, of Moville, April 4, 1923, in Le Mars. The couple farmed in the Moville area from 1924 until 1942, when they moved to a farm in Lincoln Township, Plymouth County. He preceded her in death. She moved into the Senior Housing in Moville in February 1990 and had resided at Colonial Manor in Kingsley since July of this year. Mrs. Byers was a member of Moville United Methodist Church.

Survivors include a daughter-in-law, Catherine Byers of Moville; seven grandchildren, Linda Weinert of Omaha, Rita and Steve Hultquist of Omaha, Michael and Rachelle Byers of Moville, Theresa and Mark Wunschel of Ida Grove, Marcia and Rick Moore of Sioux City, Gary and Chris Byers of Hinton, Julia and Richard Ducrksen of Sioux City; 12 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Millie Singer of Le Mars.

She was also preceded in death by a son, Paul; a daughter, Darlene; six brothers; and two sisters.
