Henry G. Marienau, 71, route 4, Le Mars, lifelong resident of Plymouth County, died unexpectedly Thursday, Sept. 3, 1992 at Floyd Valley hospital in Le Mars.

Services were Sunday, Sept. 6 at Christ Lutheran Church, Grant Township, rural Le. Mars. Rev. Jack Hebard officiated. Burial was in Christ Lutheran Church Cemetery under direction of Mauer-Johnson funeral home of Le Mars.

Pallbearers were Marlow Ahrendt, Jim Marienau, Allen Phelan, Gene Phelan, Bob Phelan, and Roy Phelan.

Henry G. Marienau was born November 5, 1920 in Grant township, rural Le Mars, the son of Henry W. and Tena Frerichs Marienau. He married Evelyn R. Phelan March 22, 1942 in Yuma, Ariz. He served in the U.S. army during World War II, after his discharge the couple farmed in Grant Township, until his retirement. He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, Heeren-Wilken- McHale Post 724, American Legion, of Brunsville; member of Fraternal Order of Eagles in South Sioux City and Sioux City.

He is survived by his wife, Evelyn of Le Mars; one daughter, Randy and her husband, Richard Oetken of Akron; three grandsons, Toby, Jeff and Casey Oetken, all of Akron; one granddaughter, Staci Oetken of Sioux Falls, S.D.; one brother, John Marienau of rural Le Mars; two sisters, Kathryn Ahrend and her husband Carl, and Marie Phelan, both of Le Mars; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
