Robert F. "Bob" Kallsen, 64, rural Sioux City, died Saturday, Sept. 5, 1992 at a Sioux City hospital after being stricken at his home of an apparent heart attack.
Mr. Kallsen lived with his parents on a farm east of Akron in the 1940s. Services were held at 1 pm. Tuesday at St. Michael Catholic Church in Sioux City with Rev. Jerome Cosgrove officiating..
Burial was in Memorial Park Cemetery in Sioux City, under direction of the Nelson-Berger Northside Chapel.
Mr. Kallsen was born Oct. 26, 1927 in Odebolt, Iowa. He attended Odebolt Grace schools and high school at Le Mars. He had been a Sioux City resident since 1948. On Dec. 29, 1954, he married Margaret A. Merely in South Sioux City.
He was employed as a meat inspector with the USDA for 25 years. He farmed south of Hinton, Iowa and also operated a chicken hatchery for several years. The couple were foster parents for more than 25 years.
Survivors include his wife; four Sons, William Kallsen and his wife Cindy of Sioux City, and Richard Kallsen and his wife, Mary James and Patrick Kallsen, all of Vermillion; three daughters, Mrs. Drew (Mary) Kouris of Council Bluffs, Mrs. Larry (Nancy) Bower of South Sioux City, and Mrs. Don (Susan) Kalin of Galva, Iowa; one sister, Mrs. Ted (Donna) Havener of Sioux City; and 13 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Francis Kallsen anyone brother, Ronald
