James M. "Jim" Mansfield, 77 of Westfield, died suddenly Saturday, Dec. 12, 1992, at his home.
Services were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Patrick's Catholic church in Akron. Monsignor Gerald F. Lyons officiated. Burial was in Riverside cemetery under direction of the Schroeder Funeral Home in Akron.
Honorary casket bearers, Lowell Morehead, Ernie Petty, Eldean Swoyer, Willis Morse, Virgil Ross, Harold Whiting. Active casket bearers, Martin Rosacker, Michael Rosacker, Tim Krapfl, Matthew Rosacker, John Crosby III and Gerald Ream.
Mr. Mansfield was born May 5, 1915 at Hinton, Iowa, the son of Matthew and Catherine (Brodie) Mansfield. He attended Kellogg country school and Sunnyside High school. He married Shirley Lilly, Dec. 15, 1938 at Merrill. The couple farmed near Richland, S.D. until 1976, when they moved to Westfield. He had driven the school bus for many years. He enjoyed fishing, camping, woodworking and spending time with his grandchildren.
He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic church in Akron, a former member of the Westfield city council and a former Lions Club member.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley of Westfield; two daughters and their husbands, Kayi and Jim Rosacker of Webb, Iowa, and Sue and John Crosby of Lake Park, Iowa; six grandchildren Melissa, Martin, Matthew and Michael Rosacker, and Trish and John Crosby III; two sisters, Frances Moe of Sioux City and Lucille Hall of Anaheim, Calif.
He was preceded in death by a son, Robert; his parents, three brothers and four sisters.
