J. Eldon Brady, 83, Jefferson, Iowa, formerly of Akron died Aug. 30, 1992, at Greene county Medical Center, Jefferson.

Services were Sept. 2 at theHastings funeral home, Jefferson, 
with Rev. Ralter Sieck officiating. Graveside service was at 4 p.m. 
Sept. 2 at Riverside cemetery, Akron.

Mr. Brady was born Dec. 23, 1908, at Akron to Charles Grant 
and Hilda Peterson Brady. He graduated from Akron high school 
in 1927. He worked in a clothing store while attending high school.
After graduation, he started his banking career at the Akron Savings Bank.

He married Carrie Akers in 1934 at Rapid City, S.D. Their 
first home was Akron where Mr. Brady was a partner in the bank. 
They moved to Mapleton in 1944 and in 1945 moved to Luverne, 
Minn., where he continued his banking career. The family moved 
to Grand Junction, Iowa, in 1946 where he worked for the Peoples Trust and Savings Bank for 30 years, retiring in 1976.
After Carrie's death in 1965, Eldon continued to live at Grand Junction until the early 1980s when he moved to Jefferson. Due to failing health, he entered the long term care unit of the medical center in January 1991.

He and his wife were involved in activities that would benefit their children. He was instrumental in starting the scouting program at Grand Junction and had been a leader and a scout 
master in the Prairie Gold Boy Scouts of America for many 
years. He was a member of the Methodist church and has served 
as treasurer; was a member of Lions club, Grand Junction Commercial club and had served as Grand Junction school board 
secretary for 30 years. He also had served on the city council. 
He enjoyed hunting and fishing, and golfed when he was 
able. His family remembers he enjoyed working with cement. He 
owned a mixer and volunteered his work for family and community.

Survivors include a daughter, Sharon Brady Looschen and her 
husband, Mark, of Ames; a son, John Charles Brady, and his wife, 
Pat, of Keystone, Iowa; three grandchildren, Jana Brady Dewhurst 
and her husband, Scott, of West Des Moines, Joyce Brady 
Carr and her husband, Donald, of Des Moines, John Benjamin Brady, of Cedar Rapids; five great grandchildren, Keri Marie Traut, 
John Robert Carr, Kiley Elizabeth Dewhurst, Nathan Alexander Dewhurst and Brandon Carr; a sister-in-law, Lucile Akers Ross of Akron; and other relatives.

He also was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Esther Brady, Ruth lone Brady and Joyce Dorothy Brady; a brother, Charles Arnold Brady, and one of his triplet granddaughters in infancy, Judith Ann.
