Caskey, Charles (Carrie) Mrs. 1890 - 1966

The final summons came to a long-time local resident , Mrs. Charles Caskey, Sr., Thursday, August 18, at the Akron Hospital, after a brief illness, aged 76 years, 2 months and 8 days.

Carrie Button was born June 10, 1890, at Marshalltown, Iowa, and came to Akron with her parents as a small child. She was united in marriage with Charles Caskey, Jr., November 18, 1907, at Elk Point, S. D., and they began homemaking here. She was held in high esteem by a host of friend for many fine qualities. Mrs. Caskey was a member of the Westside Church of Christ.

Survivors include the widower; four sons, Charles, Jr., and Darrel, both of Akron; Eldon, of Sioux City, and Harold, of Elk Point; three daughters, Mrs. Clarence Talbot, of Elk Point, and Mrs. William Harkness and Mrs. Jim Hughes, both of Sioux City; a brother, John Button, of Vermillion, S. D.; two sisters, Mrs. Maggie Marks and Mrs. Sadie Nixon, both of Des Moines; 30 grandchildren; and 31 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by five sons, Dwaine, Raymond, Barley and Freeman, and one daughter, Mrs. Ollie Peck.

Funeral services- were held Sunday afternoon at the Westside Church of Christ, Rev. Dean Orris officiating. Mrs. Francis Mackey was soloist and Mrs. Gilbert Orris was organist. Pallbearers were Mervin Monroe, Robert Klemme, Harold Scott, Robert Lainning, Roy Carlson, Milton Biddlecome. Burial in Riverside cemetery.
