Ronald Kallsen, 66, Pierre, S.D., a Plymouth County native and former Sioux City resident, died Dec. 31, 1991 at a Pierre hospital.
Services were held Jan. 4 at Oahe Presbyterian Church in Pierre, with Rev. Joseph Sheader officiating. Burial was in Riverside cemetery in Pierre.
Mr. Kallsen was born July 26, 1925 in Le Mars, Iowa, son of Francis J. and Hilda (Wilken) KaLlsen. He graduated from the Le Mars High School in 1942 and then worked on the family farm. The Kallsen family lived on a farm in Johnson township in the 1940s. He worked in Sioux City at a packing plant and at Wincharger Corp. He married Betty Hansen May 24, 1949, in Wall Lake, Iowa. The couple farmed in the Sioux City area until 1952. He then joined Burroughs Corp. as a field technician. In 1985 he retired after 33 years with Burrough Unysis. Mr. Kallsen was a member of the Elk Lodge and had served as an elder at Oahe Presbyterian church.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Mrs. Jeffrey (Becky) Steele of Fort Pierre, S.D.; a brother, Robert of Sioux City; a sister, Donna Havener of Sioux Qty.
He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant son, Richard; and a daughter, Sherry.
