Dr. Lyle E. Stribley, 96, of Merrill died Tuesday, Oct. 1, 1991, at Floyd valley hospital in Le Mars.
Services were held Friday at the Merrill United Methodist church with the Rev. Shirley Textor officiating.
Burial was in Hillside cemetery, Merrill with military graveside services conducted by Oleson-Halweg Post 125, American Legion, under direction of Mauer-Johnson funeral home in Le Mars.
Mr. Stribley was born Feb. 21, 1895, in Correctionville, the son of Lee John and Delia (Sullivan) Stribley. He attended high school in Correctionville and graduated from the University of Iowa in 1919. He married Thera A. Benson Dec. 31, 1921, in Sioux City. She died Feb. 6, 1981. He practiced dentistry in Pierson
and Merrill and retired in 1990.Mr. Stribley was a member of the Merrill United Methodist church, Oleson-Halweg Post 125, American Legion. He served on the Merrill school board for many years and was active in the Merrill Community Club. He served in the U.S. army during World War I.
Survivors include a son, Gary Stribley and his wife, Donna of Jackson, Minn.; a daughter, Bonnie Montgomery and. her husband, George of West Des Moines; five grandchildren, Natalie Hubble, Greg Stribley, Michael Stribley, Diana Rainforth, and George Montgomery Jr.; two brothers, Vernon Stribley of Bakersfield. Calif., and Glenn Stribley of Sioux City; and a sister, Leita Stribley of. Sioux City.
Memorials have been established in his name with the Merrill United Methodist Church and Plymouth
