Larry Gaul, 54, of Le Mars, died at his home Tuesday, June 8, 2010, following a lengthy illness.

Lawrence Ivan Gaul was born March 5, 1956, at Le Mars, the son of Don and Vera (Hellman) Gaul. Larry grew up in Le Mars and graduated from Gehlen Catholic High School in 1975. He then moved to Burlington and was employed with U.S. Gypsum working in the mines for six years.

In the early 1980s Larry moved back to Le Mars and was employed as a truck driver with Hagan, Inc in Sioux City, C.S.S. in Le Mars and most recently with Alliance Concrete in Le Mars.

Larry enjoyed the outdoors and working with his hands. He loved his family, friends and pets.

Survivors include his parents, Don and Vera Gaul of Le Mars; three siblings, LaDonna High and her husband, Ed, of Otho, Fritz Gaul and his wife, Sharon, of Le Mars, and Bernie Ibanez and her husband, Bob, of Le Mars; six nephews: John, Nick, and Chris Dorr, Rob and Zack Gaul, and Andy Ibanez; a niece Carrie Ibanez; and a special friend, Darsie Rion of Le Mars.

He was preceded in death by his brother Pat Gaul; maternal grandparents Bernard and Caroline Hellman; and paternal grandparents, Nick and Antonette Gaul.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 1 p.m. Friday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Le Mars, with the Rev. Kevin Richter officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Le Mars.

Friends may call anytime after 3 p.m. Thursday at the Feuerstein Funeral Home in Le Mars, where there will be a vigil prayer service at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue on Friday morning at the funeral home.
