Marion Miller, 76, of Merrill, died Thursday, May 13, 2010, at Floyd Valley Hospital in Le Mars, due to renal failure caused by complications of diabetes.

The former Marion J. Eberle was born March 26, 1934,at Merrill, the daughter of Martin and Leona (Elskamp) Eberle. She grew up in Merrill and graduated from Merrill Public High School in 1951.

On Sept. 4, 1954, Marion married Robert W. Miller at Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church in Merrill. Following their marriage the couple made their home and raised their family in Merrill.

Marion was a wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and had worked at Wind-King in Merrill and later on owned and operated Marion's Miscellaneous Thrift Shop in Merrill. In her retirement years she worked for several years at Hiway Liquor in Le Mars.

Marion was a longtime member of Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church, the Altar Society, and choir in Merrill. She was a Merrill Public Library board member and had worked as a teachers aide at Gehlen Catholic Schools in Le Mars. For years she had been very active in her community.

Marion loved to spend time with her family especially with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed playing cards.

Survivors include her husand, Robert W. Miller, of Merrill; four children: Robert P. and Robin Miller of Sergeant Bluff, Jeffry and Mary (Miller) Driggs of Le Mars, Michael Miller of Merrill, and Amy (Miller) Dimig and James Nilles of Merrill; 14 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. James Catholic Church in Le Mars with the Rev. Dan Greving and the Rev. Frederick Elskamp concelebrating. Burial will be in Assumption Catholic Cemetery in Merrill. Visitation will be anytime after 3 p.m. Sunday at St. James Catholic Church in Le Mars, where there will be a rosary at 4 p.m. and a vigil prayer service at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue on Monday morning at the church for one hour prior to the funeral.

Arrangements are with the Feuerstein Funeral Home in Le Mars.
