Mrs. Margaret Borchers of 327, 3rd Ave. N. W., Le Mars, long time resident of Preston township passed away at the Lutheran hospital in Sioux City Monday morning, May 2 of a heart attack. She was 69 years of age. Funeral services were held Thursday, May 5 at 2:00 o'clock at St. John's Lutheran church, Preston township. Rev. Henry J. Dirks officiated. Interment was made at the church cemetery under the direction of the Mauer funeral home. Pallbearers were six grandsons of the deceased,
Margaret Johnson was born September 24, 1885 in Preston township,daughter of Helena and Henry Johnson, in early infancy she became a child of God and was baptized in the Lutheran faith. She was confirmed at the age 15 and remained true to this faith which she confessed until her death. She was a charter member of the Ladies Aid of her church.
On March 2. 1905 she was united in holy matrimony to Wm. Borchers at the home of her parents. After their wedding they moved to their new home in Preston township where they farmed until they retired and moved to Le Mars in March of 1945.
Mr. and Mrs. Borchers celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in March of this year.
She is survived by three sons, Ed and Herman of Akron and Jack of Le Mars. and three daughters, Mrs. Lawrence Eilts (Emma) of Ireton, Mrs. Alfred Wilt (Minnie) of Hawarden and Mrs. Lyle Stephens (Marie) of Le Mars; eleven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren, and three brothers, Ed and John of Le Mars and Martin of Craig; and one sister, Mrs. Dena Diediker of Le Mars.
Her husband Wm. Borchers passed away March 18 of this year. She was also preceded in death by her parents and four brothers and sisters.
