Akron, Iowa - Henry D. Ludwigs, 77, Akron, died Sunday (September 19) in a hospital at Akron after a long illness.

Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday in St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church at Chatsworth. The Rev. Marvin Mueller will officiate. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery. There will be a prayer service at 7 p.m. today in the Schroeder Funeral Home.

Mr. Ludwigs was born April 2, 1905 , near Chatsworth.

He married Martha Beeck October 3, 1928, at Chatsworth. They farmed in the Chatsworth area until retiring to town in 1953. They moved to Akron in July 1982.

Mr. Ludwigs was a lifetime member of St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church and served on the church council for many years.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Darlene Burley of Isanti, Minnesota, and Eunice Betos of Denver, Colorado; three sons, Lawrence of Hawarden, Leslie of Ireton and Lowell of Stanchfield, Minnesota, four sisters, Mrs. Etta Kluver of Starbuck, Minnesota, Mrs. Minnie Huebner and Mrs. Amanda Bultman, both of Akron, and Mrs. Gertrude Kaelke of Belgrade, Minnesota; three brothers, Gerd of Lancaster, California, Clarence of Le Mars and John of Chatsworth; 18 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.
