Emma M. Hohmann, 95, of Le Mars, died Friday, Nov. 10, 2006, at Floyd Valley Hospital in Le Mars.

Emma Margaret Petersen was born April 9, 1911,on the family farm near Merrill, the daughter of Jens and Emily (Wettsteadt) Petersen. Emma graduated from Merrill High School in 1929. Following graduation, Emma attended NBT School in Sioux City. She then went to work for Plymouth Coop for the next few years.

Emma was united in marriage to William Coddington in 1934. The couple had lived in Centerville and Rolfe, Iowa before moving to Englewood, Calif., in 1953. Emma worked as an executive secretary to the president of Boeing Aircraft for 38 years. Her husband Bill died in 1976. She later married Phil Hohmann in 1978. Phil died in 1999. Emma moved back to Iowa in June of 2001 to be closer to her sister, Ella Spies.

Emma enjoyed traveling through the years. She had been on 48 cruises throughout the world.

Survivors include her sister, Ella Spies of Merrill and several nieces and nephews.

Emma was preceded in death by her parents, Jens and Emily (Wettsteadt) Petersen; husbands, William Coddington and Phil Hohmann; three sisters, Amelia Harrison, Anna Johnasen, and Clara Lang; and two brothers, Herman and William Petersen.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Carlsen Funeral Home in Le Mars with the Rev. Peter Boe officiating. Inurnment will be in Hillside Cemetery. Immediately following the funeral service all are invited to join the family in the Fellowship Center for a time of lunch and visiting. Visitation will be today (Monday) from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. with a prayer service at 7 p.m.
