Delores M. Vanderham, 78, of Merrill, died Sunday, Nov. 8, 2009, in the Spencer Community Hospital at Spencer.

Delores Mae Trometer was born Jan. 25, 1931, on the family farm West of Merrill, the daughter of Edward and Martha (Schmid) Trometer. She was baptized and confirmed at St. John Lutheran Church, Merrill. She attended Happy Hill School west of Merrill. Delores was united in marriage to Marvin Vanderham Jan. 10, 1949, in Dakota City, Neb.

Delores and Marvin farmed for several years in the Maurice and Ireton area. They later moved to Merrill and Delores worked for Wells' Dairy for several years and then went to work Zenith Corporation in Sioux City for many years.

She enjoyed reading and taking trips. Delores and Marvin always enjoyed visiting with family and friends. In later years, Delores and Marvin enjoyed going out for coffee with friends and socializing with friends at the Civic Center.

Delores was a very devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Survivors include her two children: Milton Vanderham of Merrill and Monyanne Ecker and her husband Al of Spencer; two grandchildren, Tina Hoben and her husband Ben and their children Karenna and Addison and Tanya Ecker, all of Spencer; three brothers, Merlin and Dolores Trometer of Merrill, Ivan and Marilyn Trometer of Merrill, and Willard and Gloria Trometer of Sioux City; two sisters, Eileen and Melvin Kolker of Merrill and Karen and Robert Pick of Le Mars; two sisters-in-laws, Shirley and Kenneth Jacobsen of Le Mars and Joan Trometer of Sioux City; a brother-in-law, Eldon Barnes of Sioux City; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Martha (Schmid) Trometer; her husband Marvin on Dec. 11, 2003; three brothers, Milton, Eldon, and George Trometer; and a sister, Avon Trometer.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. John Lutheran Church, Merrill, with the Rev. Sarah Nye officiating. Interment will be at the Hillside Cemetery, Merrill. Visitation will be after 4 p.m. today (Tuesday) with the family present to greet friends after 5 p.m. followed by a 7 p.m. prayer service at the Carlsen Funeral Home in Le Mars. Visitation will continue at the church Wednesday morning from 9:30 a.m. until service time.

Pallbearers will be Dan Kolker, Brad Pick, Greg Barnes, Randy Trometer, Terry Barnes, and Tom Berkenpas.
