Death Claims R. J. NOLAN.
R. J. Nolan, a long time resident of Plymouth county, passed away at his home in Le Mars last Wednesday, July 20th, following an illness of three weeks. He had, however, been in failing health since Christmas.

Furneral services were held at St. James church in LeMars last Friday morning, Rev. Fr. L. J. Cooper officiating, and interment was made in St. James cemetery.

Richard J. Nolan was born in Ohio Nov. 23, 1854, and when a child he moved with his parents to Decatur, Ill., near which place he grew to young manhood and received his education. He was united in marriage with Mary Tiernan Nov. 13, 1879, at Bethany, Ill., and two years after their marriage they came to Plymouth county and purchased a farm where the town of Craig is now located. Mr. Nolan was a good farmer and stock raiser and later he purchased more land. When he retired he and his wife moved to LeMars. He is survived by his wife; one son, James Nolan, who resides on the home place, 13 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.

Mr. Nolan was well known by all the older residents here and highly regarded. Coming to this vicinity in the early 80's he went through the hardships and experiences of the then new country.
